땅속에서 무게 5.5kg짜리 금덩이 발견…3억 넘을 듯   A prospector found a 5.5 kilogramme (12 pounds) gold nugget lying underground in  the Australian town of Ballarat, Victoria State on Wednesday (January 16), local media  reported. 호주 빅토리아 주(州) 밸러랫에서 한 채굴자가 땅속에 묻혀 있던 무게 5.5kg의 금덩이를 발견했다고 현지 언론이 보도했다. The lucky finder decided to stay anonymous and handed the giant piece of gold to  fellow prospector and gold shop owner Cordell Kent. 이름을 밝히지 않은 행운의 금 채굴자는 이 묵직한 금덩이의 매매를 동료 채굴자이자 금은방 주인인 코델 켄트 씨에게 맡겼다. "The biggest nugget he had found was a quarter ounce (7 grammes) piece and then he found this one yesterday. So now his wife is very happy, he is very happy and the detector  is paid for," Kent told Seven Network on Thursday (January 17). [코델 켄트 / 금은방 주인] “지금까지 그가 발견한 금덩이 중에 가장 큰 것의 무게가 7g이었어요. 그리고 어제 이걸 발견했죠.  이제 그도 그의 아내도 무척 행복해합니다. 금속 탐지기가 제값을 한 거죠.” 켄트 씨는 17일 호주 방송 세븐 네트워크와의 인터뷰에서 이같이 말했다. Local media said the finder used a state of the art metal detector, the Minelab GPX-5000,  to spot the piece of gold. Without this particular device, Kent told Nine Network, it would have been very hard to detect the nugget. 현지 언론은 금 채굴자가 최신식 금속 탐지기 ‘마인랩 GPX-5000’을 이용해 금덩이를 발견했다고 전했다. 탐지기 없이는 금덩이를 찾기가 힘들었을 것이라고 켄트 씨가 나인 네트워크와의 인터뷰에서 말했다. The nugget was, according to local media reports, located 60 centimetres (23.6 inches)  underground. 현지 언론 보도에 따르면 금덩이는 지표 아래 60cm 지점에 있었다. Kent is now in charge of selling it to the highest bidder. 켄트 씨는 이제 가장 높은 가격을 부르는 사람에게 이 금덩이를 판매할 것이다. The gold is worth more than 295,000 U.S. dollars (280,000 Australian dollars), the dealer told Nine Network. 켄트 씨는 나인 네트워크와의 인터뷰에서 금덩이가 29만5000달러(약 3억1200만 원) 이상의 가치가 있다고 말했다. (현재 국내 금 시세로 5500g=약 3억1600만 원) He has received a few offers so far, Kent added, but none of them were high enough. 그는 지금까지 몇 명이 구매 의사를 보였지만 제시한 가격이 낮았다고 덧붙였다.
